A time to celebrate all our EMS practitioners (paramedics, EMT’s, and the entire EMS workforce) and the important work they do in our nation’s communities. Emergencies can strike at any time, and being prepared is the key to ensuring the safety and survival of the patients that are in your care and the staff that are working. One important aspect of emergency preparedness is having a well-stocked emergency supply cart. But simply having a stocked cart is often not enough; it is equally important to regularly check and update the supplies in your cart and to check your AED defibrillators to ensure that they are still in good condition and adequate for your needs.
If you haven't checked your emergency supply cart recently, now is the time to do it.
Here are some steps to help you review and update your emergency supplies:
- Keep it organized: Organize your emergency supplies in a way that makes them easy to access and use. Store them in a designated location that is easily accessible in case of an emergency.
- Keep it up to date: Once you have reviewed and updated your emergency supply cart, make a plan to regularly check and update it. Consider setting a reminder on your calendar to check it at least once a year.
An emergency can happen at any time, and it is crucial to be prepared. Taking the time to review and update your emergency supply cart and defibrillators because they can make all the difference in an emergency situation. Don't wait until it's too late. Check your cart today and make sure that you have the supplies that you need and that your batteries and pads for your defibrillators are up to date and not expired!
