Get Ready for Flu Season

Lazy late summer days will soon give way to cool autumn nights. This means flu season is around the corner, too. The flu, or Influenza, is a viral infection that attacks your nose, throat and lungs. The 2020-2021 flu season was historically light. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that only 2,038 flu cases were reported between September 2020 and April 2021. In contrast, the CDC estimated the number of flu cases jumped to between 8 and 13 million between October 2021 and June 2022. As for what to expect this year? infectious disease specialist Dr. Englund says flu season won’t be as light as it was a few years ago.

Influenza viruses and the coronavirus spread in similar ways, so it’s likely that masking, physical distancing, and other actions people are taking to contain the coronavirus are also reducing the spread of the flu. But there are some simple steps you can take to protect yourself and your loved ones.

  1. Get your flu shot
  2. Wear a mask
  3. Stay vigilant with safety precautions
  4. Know what to do if you get sick
  5. Stock your medicine cabinet
  6. Stay home if you’re sick

Stay safe this year! Visit Z&Z Medical website for all your disinfecting needs for your Radiology and Imaging Offices.
